DDGM Newsletter – May 2015

District and Lodge Officers will be starting off the Masonic New Year at The Convention of Grand Lodge in New York City. Lodge Committees will be seeking Candidates for Elective Offices for the 2015-2016 Masonic Year. Elections will be held and new faces and some old faces will be preparing for their Installation in June. Out with the old and in with the new! Many of us will be breathing a sigh of relief and many of us will be wondering if we are up to the coming year ahead. I thank those of you who are leaving and congratulate and offer my help and the help of the entire Wayne District Staff to all who have stepped up to do this worthwhile labor. “Labor in the Quarries” as our Grand Master likes to say.

While our labors this coming year must be directed towards increasing our membership and keeping those Brothers we currently have, we must also remember all those small and notso- small obligations we have. Masonic Education via the Courses provided by our District Staff Officer; Masonic Education within the Lodge and Individual Masonic Education via the Livingston Library Reading Program. Supporting our Facilities in Utica, Cam,p Turk and the Brotherhood Fund. Reaching out to our Brothers who are ill or need a ride to Lodge and perhaps to an appointment. Reaching out to make the Community at Large know of our existence and purpose, Support our Youth via Scouting, Little League, Safety ID, volunteering our help to Community Projects or Scholarships. The list is almost endless. We have a lot on our plates.

Above all, my Brothers, we must support each other! While the Master of each Lodge wears the Hat of Authority within the Lodge, he cannot successfully manage the Lodge without the full support of the Members. The Master was elected to manage and care for the Lodge by the Membership of the Lodge and it is the responsibility of the membership to help him succeed. The Grand Master’s concept of “Team” is true as it applies to our Lodges. The Secretary and Treasurer work as a team to care for the administration and financial business of the Lodge. The Wardens care for the Programs of the Lodge and stand ready to assist the Master. The Deacons stand ready to answer alarms, protect from intruders and welcome guests. Masters of Ceremony and the Marshall prepare Candidates and assist in Ritual. Let’s not forget the Sentinel who keeps us all under his protection. A bunch of little teams that work together in Support of the Team Leader. Let’s all work together as teams to support what we love.

MASONRY.

Your support is need by the Brotherhood Fund and the Masonic Care community.
